About Us
Since its incorporation as a non-profit organization in 2015, the Kirkland Lake Multicultural Group (KLMG) has been providing valuable settlement services to newcomers. These services include support in Orientation, Housing, Employment, Community groups, Schooling, English conversation circles, and Children's activities. Additionally, KLMG actively networks with Business owners, Local government officials, and Official settlement services to enhance the settlement experience for all individuals involved.

Sandra Reygada Licuime from Chile settled in Kirkland Lake along with her husband. Far from her family and unable to speak English or french, she felt isolated and was unable to connect to the community. Sandra met other ladies who were in the same situation with her they connected through shared experiences and became a supportive community for each other's families.
The group continued to grow and started to be known in the local community KLMG conducted more free and inclusive events for newcomers and locals to enjoy like soccer games, skating and sliding parties. In 2015, KLMG was incorporated as a non-profit organization and offer its assistance in settling services such as support in orientation, housing, employment, community groups and schooling.
In 2019 KLMG moved into its permanent home called "The Stope" located in the middle of Kirkland Lake. The Stope hosts regular activities in a welcoming environment and allows its volunteer members, newcomers and locals to congregate over health, social and educational events and activities. These activities also present an opportunity for the locals to get to know newcomers and vice versa.
